Parkland Medical Center Earns Quality Respiratory Care Recognition in National Program
Parkland Medical Center has earned Quality Respiratory Care Recognition (QRCR) from the American Association for Respiratory Care. This award highlights Parklands work helping patients and families make informed decisions about the quality of respiratory care services available. Only 10% of hospitals in the United States have received this recognition, said Jeff Scionti, Vice President of Ancillary Services at Parkland. We are pleased to be named a Quality Respiratory Care Provider because it acknowledges our commitment to providing the highest standards of care to patients. Scionti added that hospitals meeting the QRCR requirements provide a level of respiratory care consistent with national standards and guidelines. In order to receive this acknowledgment the hospital had to adhere to a strict set of criteria governing respiratory care services. Among the criteria, AARC requires that all respiratory therapists are recognized by the state as competent providers who hold certified respiratory therapist (CRT) and registered respiratory therapist (RRT) credentials. Respiratory therapists are specially trained health care professionals who work under physicians orders to provide a wide range of breathing treatments and other services to people with asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cystic fibrosis, lung cancer, AIDS, and other lung-related conditions. |
